About Me

Esnaen M. Catong: I am an educator in History, Politics,& Development at WMSU---where I served as Chairperson of the Department of Political Science (2007-2010); President of the University Faculty Union and Faculty Regent (2008-2010); Dean of the College of Social Sciences (2013-2015). I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Development Studies at the UP-Los Banos. I completed all the academic requirements for Ph.D. in History, Cognate in Political Science at UP in Diliman, where also I earned a Masters Degree in 2004. I obtained a Bachelor of Laws in 1999 and B.A. in Political Science in 1995 at WMSU. I was trained at DAP in its flagship course on Executive Development Program for SUC Deans. My research interests include: Public Fiscal Policy, Strategic Planning, Inclusive Growth, Sustainable Development, Diplomatic History, Geopolitics, Ethnohistory, Migration, Legal Research, Peace, Conflict Resolution, and Islamic Studies. I speak and write in English, understand Spanish, and Arabic. I am also fluent in Cebuano/Bisaya, Chabacano, Hiligaynon/Illongo, Filipino, Iranun, Maguindanao, M’ranao, Tausug, and can understand some languages in Mindanao. I value human respect and dignity.
